Please note that due to the volume of inquiries arriving after the original deadline, the deadline has been extended as much as possible. Applications must be received by March 31, 2019 April 8, 2019.

To apply for the 2018 Philosophy & Physical Computing workshop, please submit an application online using the link provided below. The deadline for completing an application is April 8, 2019. This year, we will be able to support 15 participants. Selections will be made with an interest in balancing representation from philosophy, computer science, and the experimental sciences.

At the time of application, you will need to have following available:

  1. Your current cumulative graduate GPA, and a copy of your current transcript in PDF format.
  2. A statement of interest of no more than 2500 characters. In this statement, please describe your interest in the “Philosophy & Physical Computing” summer school. Questions to consider include the following: What do you hope to get from the program? How will the program contribute to your education or research objectives? How will skills or knowledge you obtain through participation complement your existing skills or knowledge? Your statement can be entered directly into the application, or pasted as text from another program.
  3. A copy of your current CV in PDF format.
  4. The name and contact information for the person who will write you a letter of recommendation. Letters should be sent directly from letter writers to bjantzen@vt.edu, but you will need to enter contact information at the time of application.
